Slowly But Surely - March 7th, 2024
Last night, my friend Coal mentioned to me that someone mentioned to her that they wish I was better at keeping people up-to-date with myself. On one hand, I do like talking about me. On the other hand, the idea of getting off everything is to not really be getting on very much. That said, I guess I should probably say what's happening.

The big thing right now, I found a stray dog.
Two nights ago it was raining, really heavily foggy, and just not fun. I got home and I heard this barking out behind my house, probably in the treeline of the yard. It went on for as long as I heard, I think I fell asleep around 0130ish. That morning, the barking sounded a lot closer. Something was under my back porch. I went out to look but it got distant. 1430 rolled around, I walked out my front door, and I saw this:

They look kinda old, have no collar (there's just a ring of skin where one definitely used to be), and they were scared. They followed me around a bit but the second I tried to touch 'em they tried to bite me. I didn't really have food but I filled a bowl with water, threw 'em my roll and slice of bacon that I was gonna eat as a snack, put down some blankets, and let 'em vibe on the dry porch.

They're now settled into the garage, I'm leaving the door cracked so they can get in/out and I made a little box fort in a corner to shielf from wind with like three blankets covering the ground. They have actual dog food, they have a bowl of water too. I don't really know what more to do. I've never known anything really about dogs, I just felt really bad seeing that little dude in the rain. It sucks typing all this because I just kinda break down crying any time I think about it all.

I've been trying to work on projects to keep my head busy. Those include:

House Cleaning: My living room, kitchen, master bedroom-turned-storage, and second bedroom-turned-main-bedroom, are all properly cleaned up and usable now. I'm starting to work on the dining room right now, there's mountains of clutter that need thrown out/recycled/new homes in there, and then I'll do the office space and start moving onto the basement. If you wanna know when I'm shipping things out, they're all in the basement so that's getting handled when I get down there.

SY77: I wanted "a synth to make me stop thinking about buying synths so darn much", the answer was a Yamaha SY77. It sounds beautiful, it looks beautiful, I didn't think the price was too bad ($300 with a hard case), and I really do love it. The battery is dead so I'll be replacing that on Sunday.

Shared Stories: My friend Noelle and I were working on a little world for a pair of homebrew video games, a VN that might run on a PC98 and a Macventure-style B&W title targeted at the SE. Wanting to get back to writing for those, I decided I'd expand the world lore by building a little tabletop game. The idea is all on paper, I have a big list of plot points that could be hit too, I just need to start tying things together.

"Me-Deer-ite": There's a homebrew video game in the works involving Godot, the hunting game from Oregon Trail, a very stereotypical good 'ol boy, and lots of random crap I thought sounded fun. I can't really say much more right now but I'd like to have some sort of demo in a month or two.

I guess that's it, I'll probably update this as days go by.
