Back to the Usual // 11.03.2024

It's a Monday. Yay. I did what I said I would with the weekend and I'm pretty happy about that.

The Yamaha SY77 got opened, the boards got inspected, everything looked nice, the old battery was removed, and a new battery was put in its place. I can actually save patches in the thing, it also just works every time it gets started without needing a factory reset, and I'm really happy about that. I was thinking about getting a little rackmount synth to go with it, I saw a really cheap ($45) Roland D110 that I was thinking about buying, but I did the smart thing and decided against it.

The 3D printer is running again, I have a Bambu A1 which currently has a recall out due to the heatbed cable damaging itself from a lack of good strain relief. I didn't get my new heatbed in, that won't be until the end of the month, but my cable isn't damaged so I just printed an extended strain relief making the thing a-ok to run according to Bambu themselves. It's kinda funny, with the new firmware update the thing says to not use it and provides a QR code. You scan the QR code and it says it's okay to use with the strain relief. At least you just close the message once and it doesn't pop back up.

I met up with some buddies and we had a little range day in one's backyard. It was enjoyable, sure I just burned $200 but eh whatever. We had a lot of good chit-chat, we had some pretty solid pizza, and everyone really liked everything that everyone else brought out. It was $200 for ten people to have an enjoyable time, not $200 on myself like I'm buying some dumb thing from Japan that I really didn't need to get, so I'd call that a decent use of cash.

Work's going back to being one person down, the two dudes helping us were temporary (three-month) from a program that turns floorpeople into troubleshooters. I'm not looking forward to hearing people getting stressed because now they have +1 to +4 extra things to check and respond to. I am looking forward to maybe finding someone who's actually decent that could fill the empty spot. Hopefully everything's alright but I'm sure if it's not I'll be ranting about it here.

I've got a little concert to go to later this week (and it's on a weekday, sorry people at work but you're gonna be down to 3 for a shift) and a really nice-sounding German joint to hit up before it so I'm looking quite forward to that. I don't think I'm going to work this weekend, I'll definitely do the one after though, so I'll have to find more relaxing things to do for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday. Maybe more work in Godot? I've been enjoying putting the 2D game idea together. Maybe also just routing that Pyuuta so it's done.
