For Halloween in 2018, my freshman year at college, the university game club was having a whole horror game night. I always liked browsing itch.io for small horror titles, I played Power Drill Massacre back in 2015 which introduced me to that whole indie scene. A little clicking around brought me to this game called FAITH - Itch.io Edition. It claimed to be "a pixel horror game inspired by the era of MS-DOS, Apple II, Atari, and ZX Spectrum classics", it had a ton of good reviews from not only users but also big critics like IGN, and the little 55-second trailer had this goofy sounding speech synth singing over visuals of this blue dude walking around while gradually more creepy things happened around 'em. I gave 'em a buck and got the game. It was fun! I never did figure out how to get to the one area in that little trailer where there this empty room with a red demon in it, hell I stil haven't figured that out, but I think I saw everything else.
I went back to check out the itch page of the dev, Airdorf, and I saw they had a demo for a "FAITH: Chapter II" up. I grabbed it and thought it was even cooler! One Halloween later, now 2019, and the full thing was again up for a dollar. Airdorf got my dollar, I ran it on my laptop as something for people to come toy with at the game club event, and people seemed to love it. Once again I never did seem to find everything, there are some endings that I have yet to get, but I really enjoyed what I did find.
I heard a long while ago that there was a Chapter 3 in the works but I had never really looked into it. I haven't been playing as many video games, when I do I'm usually on a console of some sort or a real old computer. Most of my PC buys have been sim titles like BeamNG, IL-2, ARMA Reforger...
I found out on October 31st of 2024 that there was a Switch version of FAITH coming out that day. It had all three chapters, it only cost $35 in a nice little box, and someone said it came with stickers. Why the heck not? I put in the order, it shipped later that same day, and it showed up on November 2nd. I have yet to play it, I have two sets of Joycons which both suffer pretty extreme stick drift, not exactly something I want to mess with, but I did order two sets of hall effect stick replacements. Hopefully I'll be able to try it out on the weekend of the 9th and 10th! Until then I figured I'd just replay my old Itch versions and try to find the stuff I missed in the past.
