CDP1802's Entertainment Stuff

I can't always be stuck working on some project.

It's good to have a little fun every now and then.

I don't really do a ton when it comes to entertainment media but I've got to sit down and do something enjoyable a few times a month else I'd probably have gone crazy by now. Music and games are that "something enjoyable" nine times out of ten, usually just listening to albums or playing a singleplayer title but occasionally going to live shows or playing online with buddies.

I've been actively listening to music since my father gave me a Zune in the mid-2000s, it was the coolest thing ever to me. I used it daily all the way until the battery was just too weak for any honest use around 2017 or so. My cell phone became my new mobile playback system, a few years before that Zune was taken out of service I had gotten into spending my summer job money on physical albums (vinyl records), and not two weeks after I started driving I was taking myself out to see concerts.

As-wrote on the Info page, I couldn't name a favorite album but it would probably be between Atmoshpere's Sad Clown Bad Dub 2, The Amity Affliction's Chasing Ghosts, or The Hurting by Tears for Fears. My favorite live experience so far would have to be going to Wacken 2024, something that a buddy and I did on a complete whim but had tons of fun with.

I've been playing video games for almost all of my life, it was the thing to do in the house. My brohters never really let me on their system to play their games very often so I had a mix of the hand-me-downs, a Panasonic 3DO and a Nintendo Entertainment System alongside a PC built with an i7-870 were my childhood go-tos. I've also been playing tabletop games for a good while, Magic: The Gathering had been around me since a really young age due to my brothers playing it and an uncle passed down some of his Dungeons and Dragons books (odnd + moldvay baisc). Friends and I would get together to play dnd (later also Cyberpunk) after school and we'd play little games of Magic before/after the RPG sessions as a way to "get into it".

I've never really have been into stuff like television or movies. I do have some shows (Mythbusters, Good Eats, The Whitest Kids U Know, House) and some films (Hot Fuzz, Once Upon a Time in the West, Apocalypse Now) that I enjoy, I do also get myself out to the local drive-in theater every now and then if one of the two movies seems interesting, but I've yet to ever subscribe to one of those services like Netflix or actively follow a running series. I think the most use my television really gets is just playing the local news so I know what the weather for the week looks like or letting me watch some livestreamed event on my couch.

At some point I'll write about some games I like, albums I enjoy, etc. down here.
