---------------------------------------------------------------- CDP1802's Glock 17L (Gen 3) ---------------------------------------------------------------- I love Glocks, they're just awesome little pistols which don't cost a ton of money and work reliably, but I've had an issue with every one I owned: I love Glock irons in video games but I hate them in real life. Wanting to "learn how to shoot the things", my usual 21 Gen 2 modded with a fancy new trigger and cut for an optic, I figured why not buy the model with the longest sight radius? ---------------------------------------------------------------- There's not much fun to say about buying my 17L. I walked into the usual shop, I saw the thing in the case, I asked to hold it, I loved it, and I did the paperwork. Fifteen minutes in and out, possibly a record as I think I usually spend two hours browsing. I think it cost $525? Brand new, plastic case with two mags and the speedloader. I was a little miffed that not long post-buy Glock put out the Gen5 MOS version, that said I don't mind Gen3 finger grooves and I like how the slide has the big cut-out for whatever weight that saves. ---------------------------------------------------------------- So, "learn how to shoot stock Glocks". What that means to my gun is the following: * No Timney trigger, arguably something good as the one in my 21 is very not drop safe and why I'd never carry the thing * No optic cut, irons or nothing and what that means to me is the following: * I have to get used to the 5lb trigger, no 3lb competition here * I have to remember to line the sights up for point-of-aim holds, not putting the dots over what I want to hit How has it been going? So far, owning the gun for about a year, I went from "I was hitting a 12" steel plate at 25 yards three times out of 17" to "...ten times out of 17". I'm admittedly not practicing very often, buying 9mm and getting out isn't a thing that I actively make myself do more than once every other month unless buddies want to go shooting, so I could probably be moving a lot faster if I actually put some effort in. Whoops. ---------------------------------------------------------------- PICTURES: 17L when new - Jan. 6 2024 17L on a Table - Mar. 9 2024 (back-right, ignore the everything else and yes I feed it steel-case because I can the ejector has not worn down) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Back ----------------------------------------------------------------
