---------------------------------------------------------------- CDP1802's Apple II+ ---------------------------------------------------------------- One of my uncles bought an Apple II+ in 1980. It was a 48K base system, a 16K language card, a Hayes MicroModem, and a pair of Disk II drives. I still haven't got the reciepts from him but he thinks it cost somewhere in the range of $3,000. Said uncle used that Apple II+ for a long time. He used it for schooling, the MicroModem letting him dial into a local university which had a Univac 90/60. He used it as a part of his job, he was a history teacher in a district that had lots of IIs for the students to use. He eventually replaced it with a PS/2 Model 55SX when the Apple was too dead a platform. I got that Apple II+ when I was a kid. It was my introduction to retro computer systems, it was the first system I ever used a floppy disk with, and it was the first thing I ever wrote a program for. It's been the favorite thing I own, the family connection adds a lot to the cool factor it already has, and I hope to keep it going far into the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I currently have the following expansion cards in the II+: Slot 0 - 16K RAM Slot 1 - CCS 7720 Slot 2 - Hayes MicroModem Slot 3 - Videx Vidterm Slot 4 - Mockingboard Slot 5 - CCS 7710 Slot 6 - Disk II Controller Slot 7 - N/A ---------------------------------------------------------------- The original power supply in the II+ has been quite dead for some time now, just about every component on it would need redone for me to feel safe using it (as it quite loves to kill 4116s), so I'm using a DekuNukem PicoPSU adapter at the moment. Be careful with whatever PicoPSU you use if you buy one of said adapters, I had bad luck with RGeek-branded Picos for whatever reason putting out barely enough power to operate Disk IIs. Any more expansions than the 16K card and said Disk controller would result in the system not booting due to there not being enough +5V. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Return to the Systems section ----------------------------------------------------------------
