CDP1802's Apple IIc
----------------------------------------------------------------
Staying on the "an uncle..." thing from the Apple II+, one of my
best friend's uncles was a hell of a tekkie. He enjoyed radios,
restoring old tube sets was his passion, and he also quite liked
computers.

One of said friend's uncle's friends would find old systems
while cleaning out places for people and bring them to him. One
of said systems was an Apple IIc.

While helping with cleaning said friend's uncle's house, the IIc
was brought up. I was asked if I'd want it and how could I say
no?
----------------------------------------------------------------
The IIc is an A2S4100, the model with Alps keyswitches. I can
sit here and talk about how much I don't care for Alps switches,
I hate cleaning them, but in this case I'm actually happy as
hairpin spring switches are even worse the one time I messed
with them.

I didn't actually have to clean any of the keyswitches to get
them working, just mashing them worked quite well. That was
cool.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I added a Mockingboard IIc inside the system which was a pretty
cool mod. It's not too hard to do, you just solder a thing and
hot glue a few speakers then the "card" itself sits like an
interposer between the CPU and motherboard.

I wouldn't have normally bothered but good friend Noelle did the
music for The8BitGuy's "Attack of the PETSCII Robots", having
her game running on real hardware with the full soundtrack was
quite cool.

No other mods have been done or are planned, I saw RAM
expansions exist but I have no interest in buying one yet. If
anything, the next thing I'll buy will be a FujiNet.
