---------------------------------------------------------------- CDP1802's Heathkit H9 ---------------------------------------------------------------- I love terminals. They're fun pieces of hardware, a bit dumb sure but what's wrong with that? It's satisfying having a neat box hooked to and displaying info from another neat box. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Heathkit H9 is a pretty simple terminal. It doesn't do anything fancy, you just have a 64x16 character display with a simple 67-key ASCII keyboard. I/O can be set to an EIA, TTL, or 20mA current loop interface. There's also parallel I/O for a paper tape punch. Mine has proven fairly reliable since getting it, built back in the '70s by a former Raytheon engineer and his kid. I should probably rework the power supply section, not having a capacitor go bang would be good... ---------------------------------------------------------------- As-mentioned on the first "blog" entry for this site, the reason pages are only 64-characters wide is because I'd maybe like to use my H9 hooked to a RPi to attempt to edit a webpage. Would it work well? Probably not, all the H9 knows are the characters of an uppercase Signetics 2513. Would it be fun? Hell yeah. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Return to the Systems page ----------------------------------------------------------------
